Bilateral relations
The UK enjoys good bilateral relations with Uruguay and both countries see eye-to-eye on a range of international issues. The UK long and close involvement with the creation and growth of Uruguay make Uruguayans view the UK with some affection. Both countries work well together on many international issues including peacekeeping.
2009

• February: Senator Sergio Abreu in London to speak at the International Antisemitism Conference. Meetings in the FCO and Canning House.
• March: Air Marshall Sir Glenn Torpy, UK Chief of Air Staff visits Uruguay.
UK expert in Uruguay delivered training course on Container Security.

Official launch of media campaign "Sacá la bolsa del medio" to encourage reduced use of plastic bags (with Environment Ministry).
